Job SummaryThe Special Investigations Section Research Analyst II will accomplish the administrative responsibilities of the section, including preparing daily briefing and Comp Stat materials, monitoring training and compliance tasks, maintaining staff reports, and assisting with communication from the section to Executive Command.
Essential Functions- Review and manage Axon Case Management reports
- Analyze data and records to support ongoing investigations
- Prepare detailed daily briefing reports and weekly Comp Stat materials for command
- Coordinate information between units
- Review flyers and intelligence for relevance to the section
- Assist with identifying patterns or connections
- Communicate professionally with Officers, Detectives, Supervisors, and Professional Staff
- Respond to internal requests from Command
- Maintain strict confidential and ethical standards and data security

Education and Experience requirements are as follows.
- Education:
Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with a course in quantitative methods or research methods. - Experience:
Have two years of experience in collecting, compiling, and interpreting data, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Dedicated and self‑motivated; expert in criminal investigative techniques and case management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient use of departmental databases and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work in demanding situations and make sound decisions.
Eligible candidates must complete a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint authorization. The check must be successfully completed.
ProbationAll persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six‑month probation period. Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise for a period of at least six months.
Selection ProcessAll candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will be placed on the eligible list without further examination. The training and experience of each candidate will be evaluated for appropriateness and quantity. Successful applicants will be placed on the employment‑certified eligible list for at least six months. The Director of Human Resources has final authority regarding acceptable minimum qualifications.
