We are looking for a compassionate, skilled School Social Worker to join our Baltimore team and serve as a vital bridge between students, families, schools, and the community.

The Children's Guild is a nonprofit organization and affiliate of Tran Zed Alliance — one of the most experienced child‑serving organizations in the Greater Baltimore/Washington region. Our Baltimore special education school serves students with emotional disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, and other diverse learning needs in a trauma‑informed, therapeutic environment.

Our interdisciplinary team of special educators, therapists, clinicians, psychologists, and support staff work together every day to ensure every student thrives — academically, socially, emotionally, and developmentally.

As a School Social Worker, You Will Be An Essential Member Of Our Multidisciplinary Team — Connecting Students And Families To The Support They Need Inside And Outside The School. You Will

• Provide individual and group counseling to students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs
• Conduct psychosocial assessments and contribute to IEP and 504 planning
• Connect families to community resources, wraparound services, and crisis support
• Support attendance intervention efforts and chronic absenteeism reduction
• Collaborate with teachers, clinicians, administrators, and families to support student well‑being
• Serve as a student advocate — ensuring every child's voice is heard and their needs are met
• Facilitate family meetings, home visits, and community outreach as needed
• Support crisis assessment, safety planning, and de‑escalation in collaboration with the school team
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with COMAR, HIPAA, and agency standards
• Drive cultural transformation efforts by championing a trauma‑informed, family‑centered school culture

• Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program (required)
• Active licensure in Maryland (LCSW-C, LCSW, LMSW, or working toward full licensure)
• 2–5 years of experience in a school‑based, child welfare, or community‑based setting
• Knowledge of trauma‑informed practices, IDEA, and 504 regulations
• Strong assessment, counseling, and case management skills
• Familiarity with COMAR and Maryland child welfare regulations
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for home and community visits
• Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
