Stay at the forefront of occupational therapy in educational settings.
- Conduct initial and comprehensive psychosocial assessments to determine client needs and goals.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling or therapy sessions, often co-facilitating with a licensed professional.
- Assist clients in adjusting to life challenges such as illness, unemployment, or family issues.
- Observe and assist in crisis intervention procedures.
- Develop and implement service or treatment plans.
- Research, refer, and advocate for community resources, such as housing, food assistance, healthcare, and childcare.
- Monitor client progress and ensure compliance with treatment plans and agency guidelines.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely client records, case files, and progress notes to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Manage and organize an assigned caseload of clients.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as organizing documents and updating records.
- Participate actively in team meetings, case conferences, and supervision sessions (both individual and group).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, teachers, and other support staff.
- Attend and occasionally lead training sessions or workshops on relevant topics like assessment techniques, ethical practices, and cultural competency.
Skills and Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or Master of Social Work (MSW) degree program.
- Compassion and empathy for individuals in difficult situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple clients and paperwork.
- Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to develop effective solutions.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to the NASW Code of Ethics.
