Everstand is an independent, not-for-profit organization—not a federal or state agency—serving more than 1,000 children annually across 12 locations. As part of our team of approximately 500 professionals across DC, MD, PA, and WV, you'll have the opportunity to empower youth and families to heal, grow, and thrive in their communities.

Make a Difference Every Day!

At Everstand, Youth Care Professionals (YCPs) play an important role in helping youth feel safe, supported, and empowered to heal and thrive. YCPs provide direct care and supervision in a trauma-informed residential treatment setting while building positive, professional relationships with youth. You'll work alongside clinical, education, and medical professionals to support each young person's safety, development, and treatment goals.

What You'll Do

  • Safety & Supervision:
Provide 24/7 supervision and maintain a safe, structured, and trauma-informed environment while following individualized care plans, PBIS practices, and safety protocols.
  • Youth Care & Support:
Assist youth with daily living needs, including hygiene, grooming, meals, routines, and other activities that promote independence and well-being.
  • Therapeutic Relationships:
Build trusting, youth-guided relationships through empathy, active listening, professional boundaries, and trauma-informed care.
  • Therapeutic Engagement:
Participate in individual and group activities that support social skills, communication, conflict resolution, education, recreation, and life-skills development.
  • Behavioral Support:
Support clinical treatment strategies, therapeutic activities, limit setting, and safety plans; respond to behavioral escalations using trained Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques.
  • Health & Transportation:
Administer medication when certified and safely transport youth to medical, educational, and legal appointments as needed.
  • Documentation & Communication:
Complete accurate shift logs, incident reports, medication records, and other required documentation while maintaining timely, professional, and confidential communication.
  • Safe Environment:
Maintain a clean and secure living environment, conduct required checks/searches, monitor safety hazards, and complete resident belongings inventories.
  • Family & Team

    Collaboration:

Participate in family engagement and collaborate with clinical, education, medical, and residential teams to support youth treatment goals.
  • Compliance & Confidentiality:
Follow HIPAA, state and organizational requirements and fulfill mandated reporting responsibilities regarding suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
  • Flexibility:
Participate in required training and on-call coverage and remain flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and program areas as needed.
