The Messaging Platforms team is responsible for building and maintaining the platforms, services, and pipelines that enable Yahoo to target the right user with the right notification at the right time. We send billions of push notifications a day through our platform Rivendell and deliver large‑scale newsletters via data pipelines. We leverage cutting‑edge technologies to deliver highly impactful projects and help Yahoo compete on a global scale.

This role focuses on backend development with periodic enhancements to two user‑facing applications written in React and Angular. You will work on Python and Java backends as well as core platforms mainly written in Java. You will serve as a team leader, ensuring best practices are followed and junior developers thrive through code reviews and direct feedback. You will expand the platform by understanding business objectives and requirements.

• Work on development initiatives as part of a scrum team on sprint cycles.
• Interact closely with stakeholders (Product Owners/Managers, Business Analysts, etc.) for clarity on sprint items and verification of developed solutions.
• Participate in team activities such as sprint grooming, project or product discussions, brown bags, and occasional team outings.
• Follow appropriate coding standards and best practices.
• Document your work well.
• Participate in code reviews for your peers.
• Collaborate with peers to solve complex problems, sharing knowledge and learning as needed.
• Work on operational and production support for the applications we build and maintain.
• Contribute to quarterly team and organizational goals that are result‑oriented and measurable.

• 6+ years of experience in Software Engineering.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Proficiency in web and UI design, including experience with React or Angular.
• Thorough understanding of object‑oriented programming and modern Java practices.
• Extensive experience with both relational and non‑relational databases.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and debugging skills.

• Expertise in building React front‑ends that interact with Spring Boot APIs via REST and Graph

• Experience with Python or a willingness to learn.
• Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, GCP).
• Experience utilizing AI agents for code development.
• Experience building and debugging multi‑threaded Java applications.
