- Role: Senior Java Applications Programmer
- Client: Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (MHBE)
- Location: Baltimore, MD (Hybrid – on-site or remote on designated days)
- Start Date: March 2, 2026
- Duration: Initial term through June 30, 2026, with up to two (2) one-year extensions through June 2028
- Design, develop, enhance, maintain, and support enterprise Java/J2EE applications
- Translate business and functional requirements into detailed technical designs and application code
- Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and support user acceptance testing
- Build and consume secure RESTful APIs and support front‑end integrations
- Participate in technical design reviews, code reviews, and architecture discussions
- Work closely with business analysts, QA teams, and infrastructure teams
- Follow MHBE security standards, SDLC, PMO governance, and change management processes
- Provide support during off‑hours, weekends, or holidays as required for production needs
- APIs: RESTful Web Services
- CI/CD & Tools: Maven, ANT, Jenkins, Git/SVN
- Minimum 10+ years of enterprise Java EE application development
- Strong hands‑on experience with Spring framework and REST APIs
- Experience working with relational and/or No
SQL databases and complex SQL queries - Proven experience designing and supporting n-tier or microservices‑based architectures
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem‑solving skills
- Healthcare, Medicaid, eligibility, or health insurance marketplace systems
- Experience with Angular or modern front‑end frameworks (Angular/React)
- CI/CD pipeline and build/deployment automation experience
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development practices
- Prior experience in state or government IT environments
