AboutThe Role
Peraton is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer in Annapolis Junction, MD. The selected candidate will collaborate with the Niagara Files development team to maintain and modernize the IC Niagara Files application and its components. This work includes contributing to unclassified Apache NiFi components that form the foundation of the IC’s Niagara Files platform.
Telework is permitted up to two days per week, contingent on the availability of tasks suitable for remote execution, such as Apache NiFi development. The candidate must be located at the work site.
Modernization efforts will focus on developing NiFi‑based microservices and refactoring existing Niagara Files components to improve performance, scalability, and functionality within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required
- High School Diploma plus 2 years of related experience OR a bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering) plus 0 years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree will be considered equivalent to two (2) years of experience
- Experience in the development, engineering, interfacing, integration of hardware and software systems to include an understanding of requirements gathering, analysis and functional allocation, concepts of operation, interface standards, and system architectures
Preferred Qualifications (that will set you apart, but are not required):
- Experience developing and maintaining workflows in Apache NiFi and/or Niagara Files
- Experience working in AWS cloud environments
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Experience with Git, Maven, and Jira in a collaborative development environment
- Experience with CI/CD automation and pipeline development
- Demonstrated recent hands‑on Java development experience in a Linux environment

DetailsTarget salary range: $104,000 – $166,000. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
