JRP is headquartered in Ashland, VA with satellite offices.

Responsibilities
  • To transport and deliver petroleum products to customers by applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in the area. Drive to and from designated locations, verify loads to shipping papers, maintain record of duty status according to state and federal regulations, and perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Accountabilities:
    Day drivers report to the truck terminal and are ready for their scheduled route; operate commercial motor vehicles safely and legally; transport petroleum products from origin to destination safely and timely; upload petroleum products at terminals and deliver at customer sites; maintain current terminal cards; complete necessary paperwork accurately; communicate with dispatch at least once every two hours to confirm deliveries;

    contact dispatch immediately to resolve delivery issues; represent the company professionally in driver conduct and appearance.
Job Duties
  • Inspect truck for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips and submit a written report on the condition of the truck at the end of each trip
  • Check shipping papers to determine the nature of load and to check for accuracy
  • Drive truck to and from designated destinations of up to 11 hours
  • Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle in varying conditions

Additional notes: include back-up maneuvering in tight spaces and safe handling of hoses as needed.

Eligibility Requirements
  • Must possess a valid commercial class A or B driver's license with tanker and hazmat endorsements
  • Must have no less than 3 years previous commercial driving experience
  • Must be able to read, write and perform simple mathematical calculations; read maps, road signs, and maintain records
  • Must have working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems
  • Must have knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection and maintenance
  • Must be available for around the clock trips and irregular shifts
  • Must meet or exceed the medical standards of the US Dept. of Transportation
  • Must satisfactorily pass a drug test with random screenings
  • Must satisfactorily pass an alcohol test (if applicable) with random screenings
  • Must be at least 21 years old
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sit and remain alert while driving for up to 11 hours
  • Must be able to shift manual transmission, if required
  • Must be able to enter and exit the truck cab frequently
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, lift and maneuver hoses and equipment
  • Must be able to climb ladders on trailers and spend at least 50% of the day standing and 50% walking on varied surfaces
  • Open and close cargo doors and check oil and coolant levels
Work Environment
  • Drivers spend up to 50% of time outdoors in varied environmental conditions
  • Irregular schedules, temperature extremes, long trips, last-minute assignments, and on-road stresses
  • Typical duty time in the cab with exposure to noise and vibration
