Position Title:
Full‑Time CDL B Driver
Shift: Day (8:00AM – 4:00PM)
Location:
Loyola University Maryland Main Campus, Baltimore, MD Compensation: $21.70 – $27.13 per hour
Responsible for safely transporting students, faculty, and staff around campus and other designated routes. Maintain a safe, welcoming, and comfortable atmosphere by providing superior customer service.
Essential Functions- Safely drive campus buses and other vehicles as required, adhering to scheduled routes and providing assistance during rush hours.
- Fuel, clean, and maintain buses; operate wheelchair lifts as needed.
- Complete all required paperwork clearly, legibly, and on time.
- Provide superior customer service: greet riders, maintain bus temperature, ensure clean interior, display correct destinations, and use the Double Map GPS system.
- Perform daily fueling, cleaning, driver‑related maintenance, pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, and yearly physicals in compliance with CDL requirements.
- Follow all campus and CDL regulations for 14‑, 25‑, and 40‑passenger buses.
- Attend monthly driver meetings and complete annual Department of Transportation training requirements.
- Physical exertion required for operating motor vehicles.
- Exposure to dust, fumes, cold, heat, noise, vibrations, and dampness; occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions.
- Working around moving parts or machinery.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1 year related driving experience.
Skills and Abilities
- CDL‑B license with air brake endorsement preferred.
- Good driving record and proven defensive driving skills.
- Superior customer service skills.
- Experience working within a university setting preferred.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions on your own.
- Flexible schedule, including charters.
- Experience with similar buses.
- Successful completion of driver’s clearance process.
