Lumber Forklift Operator - 3PL Warehouse

We are seeking an experienced Forklift Operator to join our team in a fast-paced lumber and building materials warehouse.
The ideal candidate will have experience handling lumber, plywood, engineered wood products, trusses, and other construction materials using Hi-Lo forklifts and reach trucks. This role requires safe and efficient material handling, inventory accuracy, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Hi-Lo forklifts, reach trucks, and other material handling equipment to transport lumber and building materials throughout the warehouse and yard.
- Load and unload lumber, plywood, engineered wood products, and construction materials from trucks and trailers.
- Organize and stage materials for shipping, receiving, and customer orders.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using the warehouse management system.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and report any mechanical or safety concerns.
- Ensure products are handled properly to prevent damage during loading, unloading, and storage.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors and team members to maintain efficient workflow and timely order fulfillment.
- Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety procedures related to forklift operation and material handling.
- Assist with inventory counts, stock rotation, and warehouse organization.
- Support the training of new employees on equipment operation and safe handling practices as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating Hi-Lo forklifts and reach trucks in a lumber yard, building materials supplier, distribution center, or similar environment.
- Experience handling lumber, plywood, engineered wood products, roofing materials, or other oversized construction products preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment inspections and minor troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems and inventory control procedures.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe material handling practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Previous experience working alongside warehouse leads or supervisors is preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying warehouse and outdoor yard conditions.
