Overview
This position will directly supervise up to 30 unionized employees on rotating shifts.
DetailedRoles & Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate loading/unloading operations. Assign duties and ensure conformance to policies and procedures.
- Maintain a high level of interaction with all associates.
- Enforce company policies and hold employees accountable.
- Maintain a continuous improvement philosophy.
- Picking and staging of outbound shipments in accordance with the highest possible levels of productivity and following FIFO policy.
- Ensure that shipments are accurate and free of damage.
- Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all material handling equipment.
- Ensure that the work schedules are correctly implemented and that jobs are assigned effectively and completed properly.
- Ensure the optimal utilization of space through warehouse consolidation.
- Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area. Orderly stacking of product.
- Lead operations in a way that promotes safety.
- Assure the integrity of the inventory and assist in conducting physical inventories.
- Produce and analyze reports related to warehouse and distribution.
- Responsible for the security of the building when acting as supervisor in charge.
- Rotating shifts and reasonable overtime (including some weekends) required.
- Minimum three years of supervisory experience in a high volume warehouse.
- 4‑year degree highly desirable.
- Experience in a union environment preferred.
- Experience with consumer product goods / retail distribution preferred.
- Successful communication – written and verbal.
- Ability to establish priorities and multi‑task.
- Experience with personal computers and material handling equipment.
- Ability to understand, produce and explain reports.
- At least 1 year experience working in an industrial setting preferred.
- Must be able to work weekends, overtime and rotating shifts.
The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.
