Chesapeake Search Partners is partnering with a growing manufacturing company to identify an experienced Shipping Manager to oversee all outbound shipping, warehouse logistics, and distribution operations. This individual will be responsible for ensuring products are shipped accurately, safely, and on schedule while driving continuous improvements in efficiency, inventory control, and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with experience managing warehouse personnel, coordinating with production teams, and optimizing shipping processes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise all daily shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.
- Ensure customer orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately and on time.
- Coordinate shipping schedules with production, purchasing, customer service, and transportation providers.
- Manage relationships with freight carriers and negotiate shipping solutions to improve cost and service.
- Monitor shipping performance metrics, identify process improvements, and implement best practices.
- Maintain accurate inventory transactions within the ERP/WMS system.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations.
- Develop and maintain shipping procedures, documentation, and quality standards.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate warehouse and shipping personnel.
- Resolve shipping discrepancies, damaged freight claims, and customer delivery issues.
- Manage shipping supplies, equipment, and warehouse organization.
- Assist with inventory counts and warehouse optimization initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 5+ years of shipping, warehouse, or logistics leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of domestic and international shipping practices.
- Experience with ERP systems and warehouse management software.
- Knowledge of inventory control, shipping documentation, and freight management.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
