Are you an experienced ecologist looking to take a leading role across a diverse portfolio of projects? Do you enjoy balancing technical delivery, project management and client relationships? Are you keen to join an established team where you can help shape project outcomes and support the development of others?

We’re looking for a Senior Ecologist to join our Banbury team, supporting projects across Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and the surrounding region. You'll become part of an established team of terrestrial ecology specialists delivering work across residential, commercial, renewable energy and mixed-use developments. As part of the APEM Group, you'll also have the opportunity to collaborate with a wide network of environmental specialists and contribute to multidisciplinary projects.

In this role, you'll lead ecological surveys, manage projects and produce high-quality technical reports, including PEAs, EcIAs and Biodiversity Net Gain assessments. You'll work closely with clients and support junior colleagues while helping to deliver successful outcomes across a diverse project portfolio. You'll also play an important role in maintaining high technical standards, mentoring colleagues and contributing to the continued growth and reputation of our ecology team.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • Proven experience in ecological consultancy (typically 3+ years).
  • Strong terrestrial field survey skills, including UKHab / Phase 1 and protected species surveys.
  • Experience producing high-quality ecological reports, including PEAs, EcIAs, ES Chapters and BNG assessments.
  • Good working knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy.
  • Experience managing fieldwork and small to medium-sized projects.
  • A degree in a relevant subject.
  • Full or Associate CIEEM membership (or eligibility).
  • A full UK driving licence.

You will be offered the chance to work on a variety of projects, many of our employees have worked on projects that have been of personal interest to them. We match this with a commitment to continuous development and learning to support your career.

  • private medical insurance for all employees
  • access to mental health first aiders
  • comprehensive income protection if you cannot work
  • superb flexible working options

We are focused on creating a diverse and inclusive team. If you can’t tick every box on our job description, then we are still keen to hear from you and are open to supporting your development. That may be working part time or supporting you to gain experience in a specific area – we are a growing company and are able to adapt roles to reflect individual skills.
