Senior Manager – Legal
Bangalore | Sorting Hat Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (Unacademy Group)
Reporting to: General Counsel
Unacademy Group, is looking for a business-oriented and commercially sharp Senior Manager – Legal to lead legal, contractual, and regulatory functions across multiple business verticals.
This role demands strong commercial acumen, structured risk assessment capability, and the ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders across business, sales, HR, marketing, and product teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Management
Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize commercial agreements including:
Vendor & service agreements
Terms & Conditions
Franchise agreements
Licensing & IP agreements
NDAs, MOUs and other commercial contracts
Standardize templates and drive reduction in contract lifecycle timelines
Advise business teams on risk allocation, indemnities, and liability exposure
Regulatory & Compliance
Ensure compliance with applicable laws including:
IT laws (including Intermediary Guidelines)
Data protection regulations
Consumer protection laws
Labour and employment laws
Sector-specific regulatory frameworks
Monitor regulatory developments and assess business impact
Review branding, marketing, and promotional materials for advertising compliance
Strategic Advisory
Evaluate and support new product launches from a legal and risk perspective
Provide strategic legal guidance to leadership to mitigate commercial risks
Partner with HR on employee-related matters and dispute management
Intellectual Property
Manage and maintain trademark portfolio
Oversee trademark filings and renewals
Draft and respond to copyright and trademark infringement notices
Qualifications & Experience
BA LL.B. / LL.B. from a recognised university
7–10 years of post-qualification experience
Prior in-house experience preferred
Strong exposure to commercial contracting and regulatory advisory
Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving business environment
