Role Overview
The Assistant Manager – Resource Management will be responsible for effective workforce planning, allocation, and utilization of resources across service lines to ensure optimal capacity management, productivity, and timely delivery of client engagements. This role works closely with practice leaders, delivery teams, and HR to balance demand and supply in a dynamic, fast-growing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Resource Planning & Allocation
Manage end-to-end resource allocation for ongoing and upcoming projects across multiple service lines (Audit, Tax, Advisory, etc.).
Ensure optimal utilization of billable resources while minimizing bench time.
Support short-term and long-term workforce planning based on business demand.
Capacity & Utilization Management
Track and monitor utilization, availability, and capacity metrics on a regular basis.
Identify risks related to over/under-utilization and proactively recommend corrective actions.
Support leadership with insights on resource gaps, excess capacity, and hiring needs.
Stakeholder Management
Partner with Practice Heads, Engagement Managers, and Talent Acquisition teams for forecasting and deployment.
Act as a point of contact for resolving resource conflicts and prioritization issues.
Communicate allocation changes clearly and professionally to stakeholders.
Process & Reporting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date resource data in workforce management tools.
Prepare regular dashboards and reports on utilization, capacity, attrition impact, and demand trends.
Drive continuous improvement in resource management processes and tools.
People & Team Support
Mentor junior resource management team members, if applicable.
Support onboarding, internal movements, roll-offs, and transition planning.
Required
Skills & Qualifications
5–8 years of experience in Resource Management / Workforce Planning / PMO (professional services environment preferred).
Strong understanding of utilization, capacity planning, and staffing models.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
High proficiency in Excel and experience with resource management or ERP tools.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with global stakeholders (US/UK time zones).
Exposure to Big 4 or mid-to-large professional services firms.
