Looking to join a team dedicated to delivering independent and trusted journalism? Maine Public is seeking a full-time reporter in Bangor, Maine!
ResponsibilitiesFocusing on story issues and themes that extend northward into more rural parts of the state as well as Bangor Metro and Down East, the Bangor Correspondent provides high‑quality content with a professional on‑air delivery, writes quickly and communicates clearly within daily deadlines for radio, web, and video. This position reports news items and program segments, pitches daily story ideas, voices and produces multi‑media stories.
Additionally, the Bangor Correspondent develops sources and beats, regularly engages with the public, and must be able to react to, produce and post breaking news across the 24‑hour news cycle, including evenings, weekends, overnights and early mornings.
At least 2 years' experience as a journalist, public media experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Radio news production preferred; television experience helpful but not necessary. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all departments, employees, professional organizations, and vendors. Regular travel throughout the state and a valid driver’s license is required.
