The Museum and Guest Relations Coordinator plays a valuable role in providing exemplary customer service to all guests, which will include responding to requests for information, answering questions, and informing guests of museum policies. This position is also responsible for assisting with museum programs and events and maintaining the museum’s telecommunications and filing systems.

The Museum and Guest Relations Coordinator performs a variety of administrative functions to assist in the efficient operation of the Museum. Throughout the year, the position assists with art‑handling duties, unpacking of delicate works of art, and other collections‑related duties as assigned by the Registrar, creates social media content, interacts with Museum guests, assists with events and event details, including solely managing certain events, and handles certain administrative projects assigned by the Senior Executive Director, such as the creation of report documents.

The Zillman Art Museum (ZAM) is a fast‑paced, customer service‑oriented cultural venue. ZAM is located in downtown Bangor and is open to the public. Typical hiring range for this position is $35,000 to $38,500, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications
  • Typically has the education associated with a bachelor’s degree in a related field and up to one year of experience working in a museum and/or historical society setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated customer service principles and experience providing exemplary customer service.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills; proven organizational skills, attention to detail along with experience managing multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communications skills necessary to communicate with the staff, public, and all levels of the campus community.
  • Familiarity with modern and contemporary art.
  • Experience working with people of all ages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple unrelated projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds.
Preferred
  • Experience setting up, maintaining, and optimizing websites and company pages within social media platforms to increase visibility of social content.
  • Event management experience.
  • Familiarity with copyright/intellectual property laws.
