Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, located in Bangor, Maine, seeks a BC/BE Pediatric Infectious Disease physician with pediatric hospitalist interest to join our team. This position will be a 0.7 FTE, part-time position comprised of dedicated time in a Pediatric Infectious Disease role, equaling 20 hours/week (0.5 FTE), and 35 hours per month (0.2 FTE) in a Pediatric Hospitalist role.
Applicants should be BC/BE in both Pediatric Infectious Disease and Pediatrics.
Pediatric infectious disease works primarily as a consult service with our inpatient units and pediatric sub-specialties, including our 6-bed PICU, Level 3 NICU, and pediatric ward as well as our Pediatric Surgery, Neurosurgery, ENT, Pediatric Orthopedic, and Pediatric Gastroenterology sub-specialists. Referrals for outpatient Pediatric Infectious Disease care occasionally come through newborn medicine, general pediatrics and other pediatric subspecialty services.
The pediatric hospitalist service works closely with the pediatric intensivists to provide comprehensive inpatient care and administer an established pediatric sedation program. The pediatric inpatient program has forged strong relationships with their subspecialist colleagues as well as with regional primary care pediatricians. Desire to teach family practice residents and medical students is highly valued.

- Pediatric availability is limited to defined daily consult blocks Monday through Friday only.
- Two Pediatric scheduled per month, with the potential to expand if supported by patient volume or need
- No routine expectation of availability outside of designated consult hours

Qualifications:
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Pediatric Infectious Disease
- Board Certification in General Pediatrics
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong interest in teaching and outreach across a broad geographic area
- Desire to become part of a multidisciplinary pediatric care team
