The primary function of the Noon Aide is to supervise students while eating to assure they are orderly, safe, and mannerly during lunchtime which may include both indoor and outdoor supervision.

Education/Experience/

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 or older;
  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Good health, high moral character;
  • Ability to pass a TB test;
  • Must be composed and positive under stressful situations;
  • Must enjoy working with children;
  • Self starter who can work independently;
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule;
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents, community, or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical

    Skills:

    Ability to perform basic math computations including rates, ratio, and percents using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability:
    Ability to solve routine problems with minimal supervisory assistance. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, with staff and with the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness and consistency to the mission and goals established by the Board of Education. Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Demonstrated ability to use good judgment in making decisions.
  • Interpersonal

    Skills:

    Maintain and encourage a safe environment for all students, staff, and the community. Effective organizational skills. Ability to work without direct supervision. Ability to be flexible in dealing with staff, students, parents, and the community. Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, dependability, honesty, and self-motivation while performing the duties of the position. Exhibit a positive image as a representative of the school district.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to hold, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls;

reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with and be flexible in accommodating scheduled activities/events during their shift. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 75 pounds, such as students. Occasionally the employee must use hand/grip strength to do manual tasks. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable Individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and will occasionally work outdoors in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees, and occasionally on slippery surfaces.

The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, and sprays while performing the duties of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District (Board Policy 1400).

Report to/Evaluated by:
Principal.

Supervisory Responsibility:
Direct supervision of students.

Salary Range:
Minimum wage; part-time; no benefits; non-union.

Position works as needed and scheduled during the school year.

Walk around tables, assist with opening milks, lunches, packages, etc.;

Assist students with items they forgot or need more of;

Dismiss children when finished eating;

Watch salad bar for any refills needed;

Take empty pans up to window for refill;

Empty garbage as needed in between lunch hours and at the end of lunch hours;

Wash tables in between each lunch hour and at the end of all lunch hours;

Fold up the lunch tables;

Get the milk out of the cooler before each lunch hour;

Supervise students in the lunchroom and on the playground;

Interact effectively with students, staff and school community.

Other duties as assigned by the Food Manager or Principal.
