The OpportunityHusson University seeks an entrepreneurial Dean to advance the College of Business distinctive model of experiential education.
For more than 125 years, Husson University has prepared students for successful careers through an education grounded in academic excellence, experiential learning, and professional practice. Located in Bangor, Maine, Husson serves approximately 3,500 undergraduate and graduate students and is recognized for its strong commitment to career-focused education and student success.
The Dean will provide strategic leadership for the University’s largest college, overseeing academic programs, faculty development, accreditation efforts, enrollment growth, industry partnerships, and student success initiatives. The candidate will advance innovative education, foster a culture of excellence and collaboration, and strengthen connections with regional and national business communities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a dynamic and strategic vision for the College that aligns with the University’s mission and strategic plan.
- Lead innovation and growth initiatives that respond to emerging trends in business, communications, technology, and workforce development.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration among academic programs and across the University.
- Increase regional and national visibility through professional engagement and external partnerships.
- Cultivate relationships with alumni, employers, industry leaders, and community organizations.
- Represent the College to University administration, trustees, accrediting agencies, and external stakeholders.
- Oversee accreditation initiatives and ensure compliance with standards established by accrediting bodies.
- Support faculty through recruitment, mentoring, evaluation, and professional development.
- Coordinate with Enrollment Management and Marketing to develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies.
- Manage the College’s budget, financial stewardship, and resource allocation.
- Represent the College and University in community, professional, and industry organizations.
- Serve on the Deans’ Council and participate in institution‑wide governance and strategic planning.
Education and Experience
- Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in business, leadership, higher education, or a related field required.
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible academic leadership experience, including supervision of faculty and staff required.

- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, accreditation, curriculum development, and academic administration.
- Strong record of teaching, scholarship, and industry knowledge.
- Experience managing budgets, personnel, enrollment strategies, and organizational resources.
- Ability to build partnerships with alumni, industry, community organizations, and external stakeholders.
- Experience leading fundraising, grant development, and external engagement initiatives.
- Commitment to student success, academic excellence, and innovation.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, conflict‑resolution, and collaborative leadership skills.
