Physics Adjunct Instructors SUMMER 2026 (Semester runs - 05/18/26 – 08/09/26) In-Person / Live Classes / Online Asynchronous Salary: $1,098.45 per credit/contact hour.
Eastern Maine Community College is seeking part-time, adjunct instructors to teach up to 6 credit/contact hours for the following courses:
- Physics I – PHY 121 (PHYS 150) - 3 Credit Hrs.
- Physics I Laboratory – PHY 122 (PHYS 150) - 1 Credit Hr.
- Physics II – PHY 123 (PHYS 156) - 3 Credit Hrs.
- Physics II Laboratory – PHY 124 (PHYS 157) - 1 Credit Hr.
The first of a two-semester sequence, this course stresses the qualitative and quantitative aspects of vector analysis, kinematics, dynamics, energy concepts, and includes an introduction to thermodynamics. Particular topics include projectile motion, circular motion, simple machines, thermal properties of matter, and heat transfer. (3 lecture, 0 lab)
This course reinforces topics covered in PHY 121 (PHYS 150), Physics I. (0 lecture, 2 lab)
The second of a two-semester sequence, this course stresses the qualitative and quantitative aspects of vibrations and waves, electricity and magnetism, and early quantum theory. Particular topics include mechanical waves, sound, light, optics, DC and AC circuits, and basic atomic structure. (3 lecture, 0 lab)
This course reinforces topics covered in PHY 123 (PHYS 156), Physics II. (0 lecture, 2 lab)
Master's degree within the discipline required;
PhD preferred;
Depending on instructional discipline, professional experience may be considered in place of a Master's Degree.
Instruct part-time undergraduate courses in individual, identified disciplines. The person will also be expected to provide effective instruction, advise students, and participate in campus events.
