This posting will remain open for up to one year to build a pool of qualified candidates who may be considered for future teaching opportunities as departmental needs arise.
ResponsibilitiesThe Biology program serves students pursuing careers in the biological sciences, healthcare professions, medicine, veterinary medicine, biotechnology, and related fields.
- Teach lecture and laboratory courses in biological science aligned with departmental needs.
- Prepare and deliver instructional material that develops students’ scientific knowledge, laboratory skills, critical thinking abilities, and appreciation for the biological sciences.
- Create and facilitate engaging, student-centered learning experiences.
- Participate in course assessment and student success initiatives.
- Assume day or evening teaching duties as assigned on Husson University's Bangor campus.
Example of courses that may be taught include:
- General Biology I (Cell and Molecular Biology) – Introductory courses examining the cellular and molecular foundations of life, including cell structure and function, genetics, metabolism, and biological processes common to living organisms.
- General Biology II (Organismal and Ecological Biology) – Introductory courses exploring organismal diversity, evolution, ecology, and the interactions between organisms and their environments.
- Cell Biology – Courses exploring the structure, function, and regulation of cells, including cellular communication, molecular mechanisms, gene expression, and contemporary topics in cell biology.
- Genetics – Courses examining the principles of heredity, gene expression, inheritance, molecular genetics, and modern applications of genetic science.
- Microbiology – Courses focused on the biology of microorganisms, including microbial physiology, genetics, diversity, ecology, and applications in healthcare and biotechnology.
- Anatomy and Physiology – Courses examining the structure and function of the human body, including organ systems and the physiological processes that maintain health and homeostasis.
- Human Biology – Courses introducing biological principles through the study of human systems, health, disease, and the relationship between humans and their environments.
- Ecology and Environmental Biology – Courses exploring ecological principles, population and community dynamics, ecosystems, conservation, and environmental change.
- Special Topics in Biology – Courses aligned with faculty expertise and departmental needs within the biological sciences.
Additional teaching opportunities may arise within the Biology curriculum. Applicants are encouraged to indicate areas of expertise, teaching interests, laboratory experience, and any specialized areas of biological science.
Qualifications- An earned Master’s degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Environmental Science, Anatomy and Physiology, or a closely related discipline is required. A PhD or other terminal degree is preferred.
