Morrison Center seeks a Training and Development Specialist to design, coordinate, and deliver training programs across its educational and community support services. The role ensures all staff are trained, certified, and in full compliance with state, federal, and funding requirements, including Maine Care and Department of Education regulations.
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in education, Human Services, Psychology, Organizational Development, or related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in training, education, or staff development, preferably with a background in human services, behavioral health, IDD or special education.
- Certification as a trainer in Safety Care, First Aid/CPR, and/or DSP preferred – or ability to obtain such certification within six months of hire.
- Experience developing and facilitating training for diverse adult learners.
- Experience with EMRs – preferably Therap.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and learning management systems (LMS).

- Develop and facilitate onboarding and new hire orientation for all staff.
- Deliver required trainings such as First Aid/CPR, MANDT/Safety Care, Direct Support Professional (DSP) certification, and proctor Elsevier DSP and BHP training.
- Customize training content to align with the organization’s mission, policies, values, and performance standards.
- Provide refresher and recertification trainings at regular intervals to maintain compliance.
- Develop supplemental professional development programs to support continuous learning, leadership development, and skill advancement.
- Maintain a centralized and accurate database of all employee trainings, certifications, and licensure records through Relias and BambooHR.
- Track expiration dates and proactively schedule recertifications to ensure no lapses occur.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure all training documentation meets state and federal standards.
- Partner with program directors, supervisors, and HR to ensure training supports operational and strategic goals.
