Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP)

Join our Team! Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is currently seeking candidates to work per-diem (4-10hrs/week) as Group Facilitators
. As the Group Facilitator, you provide group facilitation for the Men’s Domestic Violence Intervention Program.

The mission of the group is to teach men how to identify, challenge, and change their core beliefs that support the use of violence with their intimate partners. These are educational classes following a standardized format to confront abusive behavior and help support a way of thinking and reacting that is free of power and control. DVIP classes are run by two co-facilitators, a male and a female.

Classes are held in-person and virtually. They conduct class according to the program’s curriculum, maintaining the program’s standards, and completing appropriate documentation, under the supervision of the Program Coordinator.

DVIP standards, as outlined by the State of Maine Department of Corrections, require that our classes are run by two co-facilitators, a male and a female. We are currently looking to hire a male co-facilitator to complete our team.

Location:
Bangor, Maine

  • Facilitate weekly virtual groups with other facilitators, according to the state guidelines and the State approved model of domestic violence intervention program.
  • Attend 45-minute weekly supervision with the team.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to complete State approved domestic violence intervention training within required timeframe.
  • Must be able to deal with a variety of people courteously and professionally.
  • Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
