Job Position: IEP Coordinator
Location: Boothbay Region Elementary School and Boothbay Region High School
Date Position Available: 2026/2027 School Year
Position Closes:7/15/26 or until a suitable candidate is found
Work Days: 20 hours/week; 175 school days + 7 in-service days (.50 FTE)
Qualifications: Appropriate State of Maine Special Education Teacher (282) Endorsement or other related special education endorsement/license and current CHRC Authorization through the State of Maine Department of Education. The candidate must have a Master’s Degree or working towards a Masters Degree in Special Education/Administration and at least 5 years experience providing special education services in public schools.
Position OverviewThe Department of Special Services for the Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor Community School District is seeking a dedicated and collaborative IEP Coordinator to support Boothbay Region Elementary School and Boothbay Region High School. This leadership position plays a key role in ensuring high-quality, inclusive, and compliant special education services in each of these schools. The coordinator will work closely with administrators, teachers, and support staff to meet the diverse needs of students and ensure effective implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Candidates should have a strong understanding of Maine special education laws and regulations and be comfortable applying those regulations to real life situations as well as an understanding of developmental needs of diverse learners.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as one of the LEA (Local Education Agency) representatives in IEP and related meetings when needed.
- Facilitate IEP meetings, ensuring procedural compliance and timely documentation.
- Complete Written Notices, support development of IEPs, and support completion of eligibility documentation.
- Review IEPs for accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Promote inclusive practices across special education
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with students, families, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Address concerns proactively to support student growth and success.
- Master’s degree (or working towards) in Special Education or a related field
- Valid ME teaching certification in Special Education (282) or related field.
- Knowledge of IDEA and current best practices in special education.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Completion of Maine Special Education Law coursework
- Minimum of five years of Special Education teaching experience with demonstrated leadership responsibilities
- Exceptional communication, project management, and problem solving skills. Demonstrated attention to detail, follow-through, and a high level of confidentiality
- Strong Interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective professional relationships.
- Technologically proficient and committed to continuing professional development
- Experience working across grade levels and within varied school settings
- Eagerness to engage in a collaborative professional community.
- Experience completing paperwork using the Acuity IEP management system.
- Adaptability, a commitment to equity, and a passion for inclusive education are highly valued.
