Clinical Prof Dev Instructor - Nursing and Clinical Education - 93836

The instructor works with the Clinical Professional Development team to implement Workplace Violence Prevention programs. The instructor possesses expertise in one or more areas of responsibility. The instructor will orchestrate programs based on organizational priorities and will work in close collaboration with interdisciplinary colleagues to design and implement programs to support these priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Clinical Professional Development, departmental leaders and content experts to identify educational needs for clinical and non-clinical employees for implementation and evaluation of continuing education programs.
  • Assists in coordinating education times, space, equipment, and personnel.
  • Coordinates course schedules, curriculum content, and assessment tools with Clinical Professional Development/education department leader.
  • Assesses student performance via oral, written, or performance tests to measure progress and to evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Ensures the course content is taught in accordance with the established syllabi. Provides a welcoming, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Maintains and exhibits a current knowledge of the profession and participates in continuing education.
  • Maintains a safe environment complying with NLH policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
  • Using approved training programs and techniques, trains staff to recognize, defuse, and manage violent or anxious behavior using verbal de-escalation, empathy, and personal safety techniques.
  • The instructor teaches, evaluates, and certifies staff within the organization to improve workplace safety and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Provides specialized training in violence prevention, de-escalation, and defensive tactics to healthcare workforce members.
  • Teach participants how to defuse crises using psychological, verbal, and nonverbal techniques, prioritizing compassion and injury prevention.
  • Tailoring training scenarios to meet specific organizational needs (e.g., healthcare, security, etc.).
  • Facilitate classroom, scenario-based, and hands-on training sessions. Strong facilitation, presentation, and coaching skills.
  • Must have strong instructional abilities to articulate complex concepts and manage challenging scenarios.
  • Previous experience in trauma-informed care, law enforcement, security, or crisis intervention is preferred.
  • Previous instructor experience and experience working in a healthcare environment also a plus.
  • May perform other duties upon request.

  • Required Associate's Degree
