We're launching a bold 5-year strategic planning process — and looking for an innovative, student-centered leader ready to help write that next chapter for Bangor High School. This is more than a building-leadership role: it's a chance to reimagine what's possible for our students, drive real gains in graduation rates, and build a school culture where every student is known, engaged, and set up to succeed.
LOCATION:
Bangor High School.
SCHEDULE:
Full-Time.
REPORTS TO:
Superintendent, Bangor, Maine (Year-Round of Schools).
- Strategic planning & long-term vision setting
- Improving graduation & on-time completion rates
- Reducing chronic absenteeism through proactive engagement
- Restorative, equity-centered approaches to discipline & reducing suspensions
- Instructional leadership, staff supervision & evaluation
- Budget, operations & school climate
- Has a track record of improving graduation outcomes and student engagement
- Leads with data — turning attendance and discipline trends into action
- Believes in restorative, relationship-based approaches over punitive ones
- Builds trust across students, staff, families, and community partners
- Thinks strategically and can lead a school through multi-year change
- Communicates with clarity, warmth, and transparency
- Maine Principal Certification (alternative-pathway candidates must complete a Master's within five years)
- Master's Degree in or related to Educational Leadership
- Successful experience in educational leadership, school administration, and/or supervision preferred
- Successful teaching experience
