Salary: $18.13 - $24.88 per hour (Salary Schedule).
Salary includes a 2.5% stipend

Job Description:
This Assistant Technician position will perform difficult and moderately complex engineering duties in a construction materials testing laboratory in our Materials Testing & Exploration Section. This position will work with a small team in Bangor performing testing of Soils and Aggregate at the Maine
DOT Central Laboratory. Supervision may be exercised over subordinate semi-skilled personnel performing testing activities. Work is performed under general supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor.
- Performing high quality testing of soils and aggregate in precise accordance with AASHTO, ASTM, and Maine
DOT procedures as trained and directed. - Performing routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory testing equipment.
- Stand for long hours, regularly handling and manipulating heavy material samples without assistance.
- Work safely with power tools, testing equipment, and when handling samples, following all safety requirements.
Prior testing experience and Certification with NETTCP as a Soils & Aggregate Laboratory Technician is desired. Candidates without certification will be developed with the expectation of becoming certified within 2 years of hire.
To be minimally qualified for this position, candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
- Three (3) years of experience in engineering or a related technical field – OR – an Associate Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and one (1) year of experience in engineering.
