Medical Technologist & Lab Technician, Clinical Research
Use your years of laboratory management experience to make a difference in a consultative role. We are seeking a seasoned laboratory professional to serve as Consulting Medical Technologist to our many contracted hospitals and health center laboratories. You will act as a liaison for these clinical laboratories and our lab directors via regularly scheduled lab visits.
Duties include:
overview and review of monthly QC, review of proficiency testing, ensuring that appropriate regulatory requirements are met and assisting during surveys as needed, providing technical education when needed, assisting with writing and review of policies and procedures, coordinating local resources for instrument and QC problem resolution, assisting with new method choice, implementation, and validation, assisting with quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring that competency and training of lab staff is routinely performed and evaluated.
May include interim management stints at contracted facilities and assisting with recruiting lab managers.
This is a full-time position. Working Monday to Friday. Hours will vary depending on the needs of assigned labs. This could include early morning and late evening hours. Occasional overnight visits may be required during accreditation surveys. Several days per week may be spent in off-site labs and overnight opportunities are available depending upon lab assignments.
Qualifications- A Bachelor of Science degree in the chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution is required.
- The bachelor’s degree must include either: forty‑eight (48) semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses; or forty‑eight (48) semester hours of science courses that include twelve (12) semester hours of biology, which must include general biology and molecular biology, cell biology or genetics; and twelve (12) semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory science or technology in any combination.
- An advanced business, management, or science degree is preferred.
- A minimum of five (5) years of technical laboratory experience in CLIA moderate and high complexity testing required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of leadership, project management, or organizational management experience desired.
- Certification in the field of laboratory medicine is required. This could include ASCP, AMT, HEW or equivalent.
