Summary
This position supports non‑nuclear material and service requirements related to the NAVSEA Portsmouth Naval Shipyard maintenance availabilities, both on and off yard.
Duties- Support non‑nuclear material and service requirements for NAVSEA Portsmouth Naval Shipyard maintenance availabilities on and off yard.
- Conduct in‑depth research and analysis of supply orders to verify validity and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Perform mandatory data entry, report generation, retrieval, and mandatory research on supply transactions.
- Execute exhaustive research to identify alternate items, vendors, sources of supply, procurement methods, and to analyze major discrepancies.
- Initiate, prepare, edit, and process standard and non‑standard requisitions through multiple procurement channels, including Military Standard Requisition ing and Issue Procedures and government purchase card.
- Research local and federal regulations to certify strict compliance when procuring hazardous materials.
- Communicate with customers, supply organizations, transportation units, and others regarding price changes, special handling procedures, urgent material status, and expedite delivery to work sites.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Tour of duty:
Monday‑Friday 06:30‑15:00. - Security requirements:
Non‑Critical Sensitive with Confidential Access. - Appointment subject to favorable suitability or fitness determination; unfavourable background checks are grounds for removal.
- FLSA status:
Exempt/Non‑Exempt. - Selective Service:
Males born after 12‑31‑59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service. - No recruitment incentives authorized.
- Bargaining unit status:
No. - Selectees required to possess REAL other acceptable identification documents for access to certain federal facilities.
- Mission essential (ME) position. Incumbent may be required to report to work in the event of a natural disaster, inclement weather, or crisis.
- Specialized experience:
One year of experience directly related to this position, equivalent to GS‑06 level or other federal pay system level. - Experience includes: maintaining data in automated supply systems, processing routine and complex supply transactions and adjustments, following up unfulfilled orders, conducting extensive information searches, resolving material problems, tracking and reporting the status of support and cross‑agency supplies to prevent work stoppages, and ensuring configuration control on repair part requisitions.
- Education:
Graduate education relevant to the position may be credited; otherwise education is not creditable above GS‑5 for most positions.
