Milling Operator - B Shift

Job Description Summary

Position involves operating NC milling equipment, interfacing with team members, maintaining tooling and records, and supporting safety and process improvement initiatives.

• Set up and operate NC milling equipment as assigned
• Interface with team members including quality, engineering and production control using detailed verbal and written instructions
• Maintain tooling, fixtures and required records
• Perform material handling duties as required
• Safely perform required rigging tasks and lifts using cranes and related equipment
• Operate operator preventative maintenance per workstation standards
• Perform and support Environmental, Health and Safety audits and related activities
• Participate in process improvement, cycle reduction, and other activities to support the Bangor team and site goals
• Perform other duties as assigned, including cross-training and performing work on multi-product machining centers (mill/turn)
• Communicate effectively and work well with others
• Maintain accurate written and computer records
• Read and understand engineering drawings and specifications
• Use gauging equipment as required for the position
• Perform shop math as required for the position including right angle trip
• Use computers as required for the position
• Read NC manuscripts and understand programs to facilitate inputs
• Operate Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) as required for the position

• 2-year post-secondary degree in Machine Tool Technology and a minimum of 1 year of experience machining large components with close tolerances on 3-or more axis CNC machines (mill, drill, or turn)
• Or:
  High School Diploma with a minimum of 3 years experience machining large components with close tolerances on 3-or more axis CNC machines (mill, drill, or turn)

• Flexibility:
  Willingness to work B shift (Monday - Thursday 3:30pm - 2:00am)
• Physical Requirements:
  
  Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and wear PPE with or without reasonable accommodation
• All candidates must successfully pass a written machinist assessment, background check, and drug screen

• Obey all safety rules including PPE in designated areas
• Comply with practices and procedures including company handbook and respect code
• Qualify for and utilize specialized PPE as required
• Perform diverse tasks with cross-training and multi-skilling, including operating multiple machines within the same shop/area based on business needs
• Foster a safety culture and support EHS audits, training, and Life-Saving Rules
• Ensure products meet or exceed quality standards and address any quality issues promptly
• Deliver products/services right the first time using standard work and lean practices
• Embrace innovation and continuous improvement through safety/quality/delivery initiatives
• Innovate and solve problems with rigor and transparency, and stop work when needed
• Complete required certifications and trainings promptly
• Treat others with dignity and respect while proactively solving problems and collaborating as a team

Pay Rate:
