Job Description

We are seeking an experienced CNC operator to set up and run vertical lathes (VTLs) and perform precision machining of steam and gas turbine components. The role requires strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multi‑disciplinary team.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate vertical lathes (VTLs) to machine steam and gas turbine components
  • Follow Diaphragm Shop priorities of work, including:
    • Follow planning, drawings, and detailed verbal and written instructions.
    • Maintain tooling, fixtures, and records as required.
    • Perform operator preventative maintenance per workstation standards.
  • Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy using precision measuring instruments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machine performance or product quality issues; perform material handling duties as required (fork truck operation required).
  • Safely perform required rigging tasks and lifts using cranes and related equipment.
  • Communicate effectively and work well with others.
  • Maintain accurate written and computer records.
  • Read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Use gauging equipment as required for the position.
  • Perform calculations as required for the position.
  • Read NC manuscripts and understand programs to facilitate inputs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • 2‑year post‑secondary degree in Machine Tool Technology and 1 year of 3‑or‑more axis CNC machining (mill, drill, or turn); OR minimum of 3 years of 3‑or‑more axis CNC machining (mill, drill, or turn).
Eligibility Requirements
  • Physical: ability to lift up to 25 lbs and wear PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.) with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Flexibility: willingness to work B shift (3:30 PM – 2:00 AM Monday‑Thursday).
Pay Rate

The starting pay for this position is $32.42. The position is also eligible for a 10 % base wage Night Shift Bonus (NSB). This posting is expected to close February 28th, 2025.
