Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nurse in Bangor, Maine (04401): 13-week travel assignment in an acute inpatient psychiatric facility treating pediatric and adult populations. - Location: Bangor, Maine – acute inpatient psychiatric facility (Zip 04401)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2,020–$2,130/week
- Role: Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Psych RN) – Pediatric & Adult Inpatient
- Setting: Free-standing acute inpatient psychiatric unit (behavioral health)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) – Travel Nurse / Night Shift
- Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
- Patient Population: Pediatrics (ages 5–18) and Adults (18+)
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Orientation: 1 week days, then transition to scheduled night shift
- Scrub Color: Any solid color (professional attire required)
- Free Parking: Yes
- Active RN license in the state of Maine (or compact eligible) — required for Maine psychiatric nursing jobs
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 1 year of behavioral health nursing experience required; prior inpatient psych experience preferred
- Pediatric behavioral health experience preferred — candidates without may be considered with manager approval
- Demonstrated experience with de-escalation techniques and safe use of physical restraints (chemical restraints not used)
- Comfortable floating between pediatric and adult inpatient units as needed
- Willingness to work holidays as scheduled
- MOAB certification to be obtained onsite during orientation
- Experience documenting in Cerner EMR or similar electronic medical records preferred
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric nursing care to pediatric and adult inpatients
- Perform safe medication administration, medication passes, and treatments as ordered
- Lead and participate in therapeutic group sessions and milieu management
- Apply de-escalation skills and physical restraint techniques when clinically necessary
- Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and progress in Cerner EMR
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary behavioral health team including psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, and psych techs
- Float between pediatric and adult units as staffing needs require
- Complete orientation, MOAB certification, and ongoing training to maintain high-quality psychiatric care
