Summary
This Registered Nurse - Nurse Manager position is located at the Bangor - ME CBOC location. It is a Full-Time position at 40 hours per week.
Qualifications- English Language Proficiency – In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7403(f), a nurse must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- Graduate of a professional nursing school approved by an accrediting agency (ACEN or CCNE).
- Individuals attending a master’s level bridge program may become registered prior to completion of the program.
- Upon achievement of a State license, the individual may be appointed on a temporary basis and later converted to a permanent appointment.
- For foreign graduate schools, possession of a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement.
- Credit for foreign nursing education higher than an associate degree requires a formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized equivalency evaluation accepted by VA.
- Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) exception – candidates may be appointed at the entry step on a 120‑day temporary appointment while actively pursuing licensure (may be extended up to two years).

- Physical Requirements:
All applicants must be physically able to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position and complete a pre‑placement physical examination prior to appointment.
- Designated as the first‑line supervisory authority; functions as the clinical expert and is responsible for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care.
- Maintains excellent interpersonal relationships with staff, interdisciplinary colleagues, Veterans and their families, and community representatives.
- Role‑modeling and promotion of VA Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Implementation of the National Primary Care mandate of the Patient‑Centered Medical Home Model (PACT) and the Primary Care Delivery System.
- Oversight of scheduling and collaboration with the AMSA Supervisor to ensure patient access and timely patient flow.
- Collaborating with the appropriate manager/administrator to develop, implement, and evaluate goals and objectives for the area(s) assigned.
- Assessment, planning, provision, and evaluation of nursing services; advancing the use of telehealth for Veterans in highly rural areas of Maine.
- Life‑long learning and information sharing; leading, directing, educating, coaching, and counseling professional and support staff.
- Fostering inter‑professional collaboration and teamwork to achieve patient care outcomes.
- Coordinating the provision of quality care and assisting staff to fulfill performance expectations.
- Evaluating Primary Care and Specialty Care Nursing Staff; providing input for others as required.
- Directing and organizing clinic‑specific orientation, training, and development of staff and providing direction and supervision.
- Assessing performance and ensuring ongoing competency of nursing staff.
- Direct patient care that includes assessment, teaching, and implementation of treatment plans.
- Work Schedule:
Full‑time – various Tours of Duty available; this is not a virtual position.
