Description:

As soon as possible start needed.
Interviews will be conducted and then manager approval is required.
Candidate must be willing to float between adult and pediatric patients as needed.
This is a free-standing acute inpatient facility with a contracted emergency room nearby.
All patients come from an emergency department and are medically cleared.
It is not typical to manage lines, drains, tubes, etc.
Both involuntary and voluntary admissions are present.
Pediatric patients range in age from 5-18 years old, while adult patients are 18 years and older.
Common diagnoses for pediatric patients include eating disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, op positional defiant disorder, and gender dysphoria.
Adult patients most commonly present with schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, and bipolar disorder, as well as eating disorders, suicidal ideation, and anxiety.
No forensic patients or inmates are managed in this facility.
Seclusion rooms are available for use when necessary.
Occasionally, substance use disorder or detoxing patients may be present if medically cleared.
The unit will provide both traditional medical and psychiatric care in addition to specialized therapies such as pet therapy, group sessions, and community gardens.
Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:5-6 during the day and 1:13 at night, with resource support available.
Psych techs are present to assist: 6 for pediatric and 2 for adult patients during the day shift; and 2 psych techs for both pediatrics and adults during the night shift.
A Nurse Supervisor is available during evenings and weekends, with a Nurse Manager present during the day shift.
Management is open to communication and encourages staff to address any issues that arise.
The unit may also have a Nurse Practitioner on-site and a Psychiatrist who conducts daily rounds.
Charting is conducted using the Cerner system.
Floating between all units for adults and pediatrics is expected, and traveler preferences will be taken into account.
Weekends will be scheduled every other weekend, with a rotated schedule.
Working holidays will be part of the expectation in rotation.
Approval for time off is available, subject to scheduling requirements.
Scrubs must be a solid color and professional in appearance.
There may be heavy snow conditions expected during the winter months.
In case of an escalation, a code leader will assign roles to staff while verbally de-escalating the patient.
Travelers may have the opportunity to function as the code leader.
A debriefing form should be completed post-situation, and management will also be present to assist.
MOAB practices will occur on-site, and additional scenario-based training is available biweekly.
