Position: Weekend On Call Nurse (RN)

Position Type:
Full Time

Salary: $93,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year

Shift: Friday 5pm – Monday 8am

Territory:
Aroostock, Northern Penobscot, and Piscataquis Counties

Responsibilities
  • Perform after‑hours and weekend visits and admissions as needed.
  • Follow up on phone calls by directing them to the DPCS, RN Clinical Supervisor/Manager, RN Case Manager, or handling the need immediately per scope of practice.
  • Dispatch field nurses and other appropriate staff to the patient’s residence in a timely manner.
  • Re‑fill prescriptions, order supplies and DME, and assist with coordination needed by patients and families.
  • Document calls, conversations, and outcomes in the call‑in software system.
  • Receive start‑of‑shift report and provide end‑of‑shift report in accordance with the location workflow.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with knowledge of hospice care; telephone triage experience preferred.
  • Current licensure in good standing with the state.
  • Understanding of the philosophy of hospice and the needs of terminally ill patients.
  • Flexibility in work hours.
  • Proficiency in computer data entry and use of common software systems (word processing, spreadsheets).
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and support grieving families.
  • Demonstrated nursing skills per competency checklist.
  • Willingness to maintain comprehensive knowledge of information systems and applicable software programs.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Bristol Hospice Service Area.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy items; able to lift and carry up to 50lbs with or without assistance and to stand, walk, bend, and stretch for extended periods.
