Description:
ASAP start needed. Interviews will be simplified, followed by manager approval. Candidates must be willing to float between pediatric and adult units as needed. Facility includes 94 beds for pediatric patients (ages 5-18) and 44 beds for adult patients (age 18+). Common pediatric diagnoses include eating disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, op positional defiant disorder, and gender dysphoria. Common adult diagnoses include schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, suicidal ideation, and anxiety.
Patients are admitted from an emergency department and must be medically cleared. The facility uses seclusion rooms when necessary. Occasionally, patients with substance use disorder or detoxing who are medically cleared will be seen. The nursing role includes providing traditional medical and psychiatric care as well as specialized therapies such as pet therapy, group sessions, and community gardens. Patient ratios are 1 RN to 5-6 patients during the day and 1 RN to 13 patients at night with resource support.
Psych tech support is available. Travelers may have opportunities to act as Charge Nurse but this is not a requirement. A supportive management team is available, and there is a house administrator on call overnight and on weekends. The charting system used is Cerner. Floating between pediatric and adult units is required. Weekend rotation is every other weekend; holiday work is expected in rotation.
Scrub color must be a solid color and professional. Candidates should communicate any need for additional practice with de-escalations. Scenario-based training is provided every other week for additional practice.
