Description:
Immediate start needed.
Interviews will be conducted with the manager.
This is a Level II Trauma Center.
Patient population includes trauma patients within a 50-mile radius.
The unit holds 12 beds.
Nursing staff will care for neuro strokes and stable craniotomies, managing CIWA and seizure precautions.
Medical/surgical patients may include those with respiratory illnesses such as COVID, flu, pneumonia, and long-term trach with vents.
Other patient types include those experiencing respiratory failure requiring BiPAP or high-flow oxygen, COPD exacerbations, post-op general surgery, sepsis, IV drug abuse, and thyroid storm.
Cardiac patients include those with STEMI, NSTEMI, CHF, atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, and those post-cardiac catheterization or ablation.
Post-operative TAVR patients will also be included.
Patient ratios will be RN 1:3-4 during both day and night shifts, with tech support at a ratio of 1:6-12, depending on staffing.
Skills required include high-flow oxygen management, chest tube care, wound vac dressing changes, BiPAP, general drain and ostomy care, and IV starts.
Experience with trach patients on vents is essential, including knowledge of administering 100% FiO2 via suction support and silence alarms.
Nurses are required to conduct care for temporary pacemakers, TR bands, and post-femoral sheath care, along with cardiac rhythm interpretation and drips including Amiodarone and Cardizem.
The unit will have support available from CNAs, charge nurses who may have patients as needed, and a resource nurse available 24/7.
Respiratory Therapy and Clientist services will also be on-site 24/7.
Physical and Occupational Therapy services are available Monday through Friday.
The facility utilizes a charting system with experience in Cerner preferred.
Staff will need to float to other departments if assigned.
Weekend rotation is every other week.
There may be low census callback as needed.
Holiday expectations will vary based on unit needs.
Scrub color must be professional attire.
