Job Title: Internal Quality Assurance Specialist (Refrigeration Manufacturing)
Department: Quality Assurance / Manufacturing Operations
Location: Bangor, ME
Position Type: Full-Time
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Inspections: Perform routine and spot inspections at critical assembly stages, including brazing, leak testing, electrical wiring, final charging of refrigeration units, and receiving looking at vender quality.
- Defect Tracking: Identify, log, and categorize product defects using data collection tools to track reject rates and rework trends.
- Root Cause Analysis: Lead and participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to solve process rejections and prevent future manufacturing flaws.
- Process Auditing: Conduct process control audits on the production floor (e.g., SOP adherence, standard torque limits, and critical-to-quality measurements).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with production supervisors, design engineers, and assembly line workers to correct faults and implement kaizen (continuous improvement) strategies.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Quality Control or Quality Assurance, specifically within HVAC/R or heavy mechanical manufacturing.
- Technical Knowledge: Advanced understanding of refrigeration systems, including vapor compression cycles, brazing/soldering, and evacuation/charging processes.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, assembly drawings, and complex wiring diagrams.
- Certifications: EPA Section 608 Universal Certification is highly preferred. Six Sigma Green Belt or similar quality certifications are a plus.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical problem-solving capabilities, and excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and navigate active manufacturing floors.
- Comfortable wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
