ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and execute sales plans utilizing Airgas sales directives and guidelines to service existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts. Qualify and pursue sales leads.
  • Cultivate customer relationships by developing a deep knowledge of the customer’s business and establishing a consultative relationship.
  • Engage customers by linking business priorities to the Airgas value proposition.
  • Prepare sales proposals by quoting pricing, establishing credit terms, and estimating delivery dates based on Airgas production/delivery schedules.
  • Keep current with industry insights and Airgas product mixes, monitor competition, gather market information on pricing, products, and delivery schedules.
  • Partner with internal resources to accomplish growth objectives; maintain clear communication with internal departments regarding customer successes and opportunities.
  • Maintain and submit sales reports (daily call reports, weekly work plans, monthly and annual territory analyses) as required by District Manager through SAP.
  • Review and manage existing customer Accounts Receivable balances to minimize working capital investment and financial risk.
  • Other duties as assigned.

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each job duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • Required

    Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in science, business, or related field. Up to 4 years of additional related experience may be accepted.
  • Minimum 3 years of outside business‑to‑business sales experience, including proven solution‑selling concepts and managing customers throughout a defined sales territory.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases, industrial gas/welding supply sales a plus.
  • Knowledge of customer segmentation and ability to prioritize high‑value targets.
  • Proven success using a consultative sales approach providing multiple layers of value to customers.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • PC proficiency (Windows, Word, Excel, email); ability to use PC‑based order entry and handheld scanning devices.
  • Self‑starter, self‑motivated, works independently with a sense of urgency.
  • Reliable transportation, current driver’s license, and minimum liability insurance as required by state.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • May be required to remain stationary for extended periods, sit in an automobile for long periods, and occasionally transverse offices or manufacturing locations.
  • Frequent use of computer, telephone, and operation of a motor vehicle.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Frequent local travel (75% of work time); minimal overnight travel.
  • Required visitation of customer sites with varying environments and accessibility.
