Account Manager – Bangor, ME
Airgas is seeking an Account Manager to drive sales and build customer relationships in the Bangor, ME retail market.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute sales plans using Airgas sales directives and guidelines to service existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts; qualify and pursue sales leads.
- Cultivate customer relationships by deep knowledge of the customer’s business and establishing a consultative relationship.
- Engage customers by linking their business priorities to the Airgas value proposition.
- Prepare sales proposals by quoting pricing, establishing credit terms, and estimating delivery dates based on Airgas production/delivery schedules.
- Stay current with industry insights, Airgas product mixes, competition, pricing, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques.
- Partner with internal resources to accomplish growth objectives and maintain clear communication with internal departments on customer successes, opportunities, and developments.
- Maintain and submit sales reports (daily call reports, weekly work plans, monthly and annual territory analyses) as required by the District Manager through SAP.
- Actively review and manage existing customer accounts receivable balances to minimize working capital investment and financial risk.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, business or related field; or up to 4 years of related experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of outside business-to-business sales experience with proven solution‑selling concepts and territory management.
- Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases, industrial gas/welding supply sales a plus.
- Knowledge of customer segmentation and ability to prioritize high‑value customers.
- Proven success using consultative sales approach to provide multiple layers of value.
- Deep knowledge of customer business, economic trends, industry trends, and new business opportunities.
- Working knowledge of SAP a plus.
- Excellent organizational, written and oral communication, listening and presentation skills.
- Strong PC skills (Windows, Word, Excel, email) and ability to use a PC‑based order entry system plus handheld scanning device.
- Self‑starter, self‑motivated, sense of urgency, ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational, analytical and planning skills; practical problem‑solving ability.
- Reliable transportation, current driver’s license, and minimum liability insurance.
- Base salary plus commission.
