This is a Transportation Crew Leader Position out of the Bangor Paint shop location. This position will serve on a Bangor based Striping Crew in summer, leading crew members in painted pavement marking duties, responsible for overseeing and ensuring the accomplishment of assigned duties and tasks as directed by the TCS and the winter responsibilities of this position will be based on operational needs, duties may include contracting work, paint equipment maintenance work and all other daily transportation worker duties and could include snow-fighter duties.

Supervises and directs the accomplishment of work activities; trains and coaches assigned crew members; ensures projects are completed within specifications and time frames and in accordance with safety and environmental policies, rules, and regulations; monitors use and maintenance of vehicles, equipment and tools; inspects materials; meets with citizens, utility officials and others to resolve issues within a work area; prepares and submits work records and time sheets;

communicates daily with the Transportation Crew Supervisor and provides information on personnel issues for employee performance evaluations; and, provides a backup for all of the Transportation Crew Supervisor's responsibilities in the event of their absence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

(Entry level knowledges, skills, and/or abilities may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO the following coursework/training and/or experience).

Two-year combination of training, experience, and education in highway, bridge, equipment repair and maintenance and/or construction including at least one year of lead worker experience.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).

Valid Class A motor vehicle license as issued by the State of Maine and completion of the 30-hour OSHA Safety course in construction (20 CFR Part 1926).
