Special Inspector – Fire stopping (Bangor and Lisbon, ME)

John Turner Consulting, Inc. (JTC) is looking for a Special Inspector – Fire stopping Inspector to join our engineering team in our Fessenden Geotechnical subsidiary offices in Bangor and Lisbon, Maine.

Successful candidates will possess outstanding attention to detail, can read and understand construction plans, accurately document and report collected information, and possess the ability to communicate effectively with clients.

This is a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience. The individual will assist in performing field testing of soils and concrete. Must have strong work ethic, ability to work independently, be detail oriented and organized, and able to successfully pass written and practical certification exams once the training period is complete.

Fire stopping Experience and IFC Certification for Third Party Fire stopping Inspections Required

Job Description:

• Complete fire stopping field inspections on a variety of commercial, industrial, and high occupancy buildings for compliance with local, state, and national fire codes, and building, administrative, and health codes as applicable
• Complete inspection reports after each visit to note compliance or open items
• Participate pre-construction meetings
• Research fire stopping and fire safety codes for application/interpretation
• Communication with field teams to communicate deficiencies in addition to daily reports
• Huge potential for growth and additional training in other special inspection fields
• Successful candidates will possess an outstanding attention to detail, can read and understand construction plans, accurately document and report collected information, and possess the ability to communicate effectively with clients.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of experience in fire stopping field
• IFC Certified or ability to gain certification immediately
• Extensive knowledge of industry standards including IFC and ASTM
