Position Summary The Driver/Shop Assistant plays a vital role in supporting field operations and ensuring the efficient functioning of equipment, tools, and materials across the company. This position is responsible for general shop operations, assisting with equipment maintenance and basic repairs, organizing and staging materials for job sites, maintaining accurate inventory, and completing deliveries and pickups as needed.

The ideal candidate demonstrates hands-on mechanical aptitude, familiarity with construction tools and equipment, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, physical stamina, and a commitment to safety in both shop and field environments.

Essential Job Functions Report to work on a regular and timely basis and complete scheduled workdays consistently

Operate company vehicles to transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites

Possess general automotive maintenance and repair knowledge

Operate various motor vehicles and trucks safely and in compliance with company policies

Receive incoming shipments and verify accuracy against packing slips and orders

Load, unload, identify, and distribute materials, machinery, tools, and safety equipment according to direction or specifications

Sort, label, and store materials on racks, shelves, or bins according to size, type, or product code Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with inventory tracking

Pull and distribute tools, materials, and stock items to fulfill field requests

Prepare materials and equipment for shipment or job-site deployment

Utilize material-handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks

Assist the Shop Foreman with deliveries, pickups, and shop organization

Inspect, repair, refurbish, and maintain power tools and small equipment

Operate woodworking and fabrication tools as required

Run and operate Tool Hound systems

Fabricate rebar as directed

Follow all N.S. Giles safety standards on job sites and within the shop and yard Perform routine safety inspections and act as a safety monitor as needed

Maintain general knowledge of OSHA-compliant shop practices, including Haz Com, material labeling, and fire hazard controls

Perform all other duties as assigned
