Position: Building Mechanical Systems Spec          at State of Maine        in        bangor,        Maine

Job Title

This is structure and craft work at the Master's level involving the installation, service, maintenance, and operation of plumbing or heating systems, and cooling systems.

Salary: $58,968.00 - $82,291.04/Annually (Includes 25% Stipend)

Representative tasks include inspecting and repairing damages in systems and associated infrastructure, installing and repairing new and existing systems, planning and overseeing skilled workers, inspecting building systems projects, fabricating items from various materials, requisitioning supplies, demonstrating completed jobs for municipal inspectors, reviewing plans for new construction, programming system components, estimating projects, gathering data, instructing others in operation and maintenance activities, operating computerized monitoring systems, receiving and resolving incoming phone calls, and inspecting building systems projects.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include knowledge of safety rules, regulations, methods, practices, materials, and equipment associated with related mechanical trades, knowledge of OSHA, fire safety, and life safety guidelines and regulations, knowledge of hazards and safety precautions necessary in maintenance, construction, and repair of plumbing, heating, ventilation, and cooling systems, knowledge of agency policies and procedures, knowledge of Maine Uniform and National Codes related to professional and technical licensure/certification, ability to estimate labor and material costs, ability to interpret and work from blueprints, diagrams, plans, and specifications, ability to use applicable computer programs, ability to install, maintain, and repair a variety of plumbing, heating, and cooling fixtures and systems, ability to diagnose and repair plumbing, heating, ventilating, and cooling systems, ability to use standard desktop PC applications, ability to maintain a written activities log and various related records, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, ability to communicate effectively, and ability to write clearly and effectively.

Minimum qualifications include current valid Master Plumber's license as issued by the Plumber's Examining Board or current valid Master Oil Burner Mechanic's License as issued by the Maine Fuel Board. Licensing/registration/certification requirements include Environmental Protection Agency #608 Universal Technician Certification and Propane and Natural Gas Technician License with endorsements (Large Equipment Connection/Service).
