Position Type

This position is scheduled to support Government operations, generally Monday through Friday. Magazine, shift, and as-needed operations outside of normal Government working hours (including holidays and base closure days) may be required to meet the mission of SWFPAC / MCSFBN.

Work Location Position Description

The Motor Transport Lead assists in the management of the SWFPAC Security Force GSA and Armored Fighting Vehicle (AFV) fleet (up to 80 GSA vehicles and 59 AFVs) to ensure availability in meeting mission requirements. The Motor Transport Lead manages vehicle tracking, assignment, dispatch, and scheduled/corrective maintenance coordination, and supervises motor transport operations within the functional area.

Essential Position Functions
  • Manage and track Armored and GSA vehicle fleet availability and maintain an electronic log of assignments, check-outs, and check-ins.
  • Verify that personnel checking out vehicles hold valid driver's or Government-issued licenses and review Pre‑Operation Check documents.
  • Review the monthly preventive maintenance schedule, notify appropriate personnel when maintenance is due, and coordinate vehicle drop‑off/pick‑up.
  • Coordinate corrective maintenance repairs with the designated maintenance facility and maintain an electronic log of repairs.
  • Track fleet mileage at check‑out/check‑in and prepare the Motor Transport Mileage Report (CDRL A023).
  • Prepare and deliver the Motor Transport Availability Report and Motor Transport Maintenance and Repair Report (CDRLs A021, A022).
  • Enter, scan, and post all corrective and PM actions into the Government‑provided vehicle management system.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in vehicle management, scheduling for utilization, and preventive and corrective maintenance processes.
  • Current, or the ability to obtain, a Secret security clearance.
  • Advanced Office Automation/PC keyboarding skills, advanced Microsoft Office Suite experience, and advanced office management skills.
Competencies for the role

The Motor Transport Lead demonstrates strong fleet management, scheduling, and maintenance coordination skills. This role requires knowledge of vehicle tracking and dispatch processes, attention to detail in maintenance records, and the ability to supervise motor transport operations.

Physical Requirements for the role

This position involves a combination of office and light industrial/warehouse activity. The role requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, sometimes with mechanical assistance. Work at a computer for extended periods, including viewing monitors and using keyboards, is also required.

Supervisory responsibilities

Supervises motor transport support operations within the functional area.

The work environment is primarily a professional office setting with standard business conditions, with periodic time spent in warehouse, magazine, or light industrial areas. The role involves regular use of computers and related technology and frequent collaboration with Government and Contractor personnel. Work supports adherence to established safety, security, and organizational policies.

Travel is primarily local within the Western Puget Sound area in support of vehicle drop‑off, pick‑up, and maintenance coordination.

Compensation

Compensation is set in accordance with the applicable Service Contract Act Wage Determination (WD , Rev. 30)
