Position: PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHER - ENTRY LEVEL (Pre - POST Entry Level Dispatcher Selection Test Battery)

TYPING CERTIFICATE: 40 NET words per minute;

Essential Functions

Representative duties: Depending on the area of the assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Undertake and provide a variety of law enforcement radio‑dispatch and information support services associated with assessing caller needs, dispatching law enforcement, medical and/or other public safety services required specific to the need identified.
  • Answer, identify and prioritize emergency and non‑emergency calls and requests for service.
  • Assess, analyze, evaluate and process emergency and/or routine requests for law enforcement, medical and/or related services/assistance.
  • Track location and availability of law enforcement and other service responders.
  • Monitor and maintain contact with situation and individuals involved.
  • Conduct regular and periodic checks regarding status of officers and others dispatched to calls.
  • Access a variety of local, state and/or national databases, research information and respond to requests for data and information.
  • Update and maintain a variety of files and records.
  • Log calls and related information into electronic and/or manual recording systems.
  • Operate a computer to maintain information and data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
