Job Description
General LaborerUnder direction of the foreperson, laborers will typically work on construction crew but may work at our yard / maintenance shop. Our laborers perform a variety of manual construction work such as shoveling, digging by hand, raking, sweeping, and traffic control along with operating small equipment such as blowers, saws, compactors and other duties necessary to perform job requirement in a safe and effective manner.
On the job training will provide the knowledge and skills to become a productive member of one of our crew, with the potential for advancement opportunities to become an equipment operator. Our employee “typically” works all year round! Occasionally short term lay off is necessary. This is a full-time position and requires working overtime and Saturday if necessary.
- Ability to work outdoors and to work in all types of outdoor weather.
- Ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, twist, stoop, push, pull, carry, and lift as needed.
- Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet, and limbs in performing skilled movement.
- Work Experience:
Experience working with hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, etc. In addition, previous experience working with a team in a general construction labor atmosphere, , but not required.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn.
- Ability to maintain equipment and hand tools.
- Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Abide all company and manufacturer safety procedures and industry safety standards, in addition to attending mandatory safety meetings.
