Job Summary

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Traffic Control Flaggers perform traffic control duties, maintain safe work zones, and manage traffic signals to ensure safety for the traveling public and team members. This full‑time seasonal position runs May through October, requires overtime and occasional Saturdays, and includes DOT certification training and on‑the‑job training for advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities

Set up, adjust, and maintain traffic control devices such as barricades, traffic cones, and signs.
Communicate effectively with travelers and crew members to relay traffic signals.
Follow safety rules and regulations, ensuring safe and compliant work zones.
Participate in training and apply learned skills to improve safety and production.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.

Reliable transportation; a valid driver’s license is preferred.

Physical ability to work in all seasonal weather and environmental conditions in a moving highway work zone.

Ability to stand for long periods and remain attentive to traffic conditions and other safety factors.

Ability to listen, take direction, work as a team player, and train less experienced employees.
