As the Process Control Engineer, you will provide technical expertise for designing, maintaining, and modifying the electrical, process control and safety systems used by our chemical and specialty material production processes.
You will be located at PPG's Barberton, OH plant and report to the Manager, Electrical Engineering. PPG offers excellent Medical, Dental, Vision benefits; matching 401k and retirement savings; and paid vacation and holiday pay.
Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership and support to the site's 24/7 operations regarding safety and process control systems, process instrumentation, DCS, and PLCs.
- Use technical knowledge and data analysis skills to troubleshoot process control systems.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities on control and electrical systems.
- Support production and maintenance departments in continuous improvement, yield improvement, and efficiency improvements.
- Manage installation and startup of instrumentation and automation projects, including capital projects. Satisfy projects' functional, budgetary, and timeline requirements.
- Work with other engineering disciplines to provide instrumentation and automation support for broader mechanical and chemical projects.
- Develop cost estimates and scopes for projects, award to the best contractor/supplier, and manage the contractor through completion.
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
- 5+ years of experience working in an industrial manufacturing or chemical process environment.
- Experience with variable frequency drives, PLC (Rockwell) and DCS (Foxboro) programming, and HMI programming.
- Experience with process instrumentation in an industrial environment.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and modifying P&IDs and electrical drawings.
